Laboratory of Digital Circuits in Division of Telecommunications Fundamentals

he aim of the laboratory is to conduct research in the following areas:

  • synthesis and design of digital circuits (with special focus on CPLDs and FPGAs) with use of EDA tools for prototyping and industry applications,
  • logic synthesis,
  • logic synthesis for easily testable circuits,
  • design of self testing circuits with built-in circular test paths,
  • design, evaluation and testing of cryptographic algorithms and techniques.

In the frame of Laboratory of Digital Circuits students accomplish education tasks, as well as research tasks connected with their dissertations.

Laboratory involve realization of education aims connected with digital technology:

  • to familiarize with computer aided design (CAD) tools,
  • implementation of combinational and sequential functional blocks with taking into account standard-cells and FPGA technology,
  • application of advanced logic synthesis procedures (decomposition, minimization and coding of FSM internal states, synthesis of sequential circuit in FPGA structures with embedded memory blocks, address modifier units),
  • implementation of complex designs with multilevel structure with use of mixed form specification and elements of all available libraries of functions, macros and megafunctions,
  • application of advanced design methodologies with use of ASM and ASMD diagrams,
  • application of design methodologies based on loop unrolling, pipelining, resource sharing,
  • application of hardware description languages HDL,
  • design and synthesis of easily testable circuits, testability analysis of design circuit, design of test strategy (self testing) for designed circuit based on application of rules simplifying test procedures.
