Optoelectronics Division

The main activity of the Division is concentrated on various areas of optoelectronic research in the field of laser physics, laser spectroscopy, laser construction and laser applications in medicine and air pollution monitoring. Our Division also includes the Photovoltaics (PV) Centre, which activity concerns research and project of photovoltaic systems and devices.  

 

The main research activity of the Division comprises:

  • spectroscopic research of new laser materials, investigation of the excitation processes in rare earth doped dielectric materials, research of blue up-conversion laser structures, waveguide amplifiers and lasers;
  • analyze, modelling and investigation of active fibres in all-fiber geometries, research on novel fiber amplifiers for applications in access networks;
  • theoretical research of laser generation in planar, fibre and hollow waveguide gas lasers, analysis of light generation in DFB (distributed feedback) structures, photonic crystals structures and in lasers with non-linear optical elements, investigation of the statistical properties of the light generated in various laser structures;
  • nano-optical structures and photonic band-gap materials;
  • optimisation of the construction of ion gas lasers, investigation of the processes in discharge tube ceramic ion laser and laser operation in various cavity geometry, investigation of light generation in ion gas lasers for medical applications;
  • research and development of PV elements and systems, stimulation of research and demonstration activities, coordination of expert meetings, workshops, symposia and conferences, dissemination of knowledge and popularization of PV in developing countries (Photovoltaics Centre, www.pv.pl).
