PROTEUS - Integrated Mobile System for Counterterrorism and Rescue Operations
Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements with other scientific and research institutes have started work on the innovation project, which results will be an answer for the new challenges, which are faced by services responsible for the rescue, the critical management and the public safety.
Climate changes and escalation of vehement weather phenomena, globalization, and development of international terrorism, the rising dependence on technology in everyday life cause that critical situations happen very often and touch a number of people. Because of the rising challenges, new solutions, based on the newest technologies will be used more often.
The task of PROTEUS is to break a number of the technological barriers and to create a demonstrator of the system, which will offer a new quality of the actions in the critical situations. As a result of theplanned project in the years 2009-2013 will come into being integrated system, which will include:g
- Unmanned Plane to remote monitoring;
- Three robots to various use;
- Mobile Command Center.
The system will allow an instant situation recognition, current tracking of its development and taking up emergency actions rapidly, which will exert an effect in the limitation of the crisis size , victims and rescuers.
The members of the consortium are: Industrial Research Institute for Automation and Measurements, Space Research Centre Polish Academy of Science, Scientific Research Fire Precautions Centre, Institute of Electronic Materials Technology, Poznan University of Technology, Warsaw University of Technology, Military University of Technology.
The Project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund within the framework of the 1. priority axis of the Innovative Economy Operational Programme, 2007-2013, submeasure 1.1.2 "Strategic R&D Research". Contract no. POIG.01.02.01-00-014/08.
